Ok, now you got me on the rant bandwagon. The highlights of this Yahoo News article are this:
The $3.1 trillion proposed budget projects sizable increases in national security but forces the rest of government to pinch pennies.
While Bush projects that total security funding in the areas of the budget controlled by annual appropriations will go up by 8.2 percent, he projects only a 0.3percent increase in discretionary spending for the rest of government.
To achieve such a small boost, Bush would hold hundreds of programs well below what is needed to keep up with inflation. He also seeks to eliminate or sharply slash 151 programs he considers unnecessary.
Congress had agreed to eliminate 29 of 141 programs Bush targeted last year, which he said was a good start.
This year, the largest number of program terminations — 47 — are in education including elimination of programs to encourage arts in schools, bring low-income students on trips to Washington and provide mental health services.
Thanks George….screw the kids, screw the poor, screw the mentally challenged….but by God, keep America safe from the boogyman. At the rate he's going, I'm beginning to wonder what we will have to keep safe in the future!

Well, now, let's see...
I used to shop at Ralphs. Then I was told that Albertson's was cheaper. This was back when I had one child. So I was buying less food, too.
Now Albertsons is as expensive as Ralph's was then (thank goodness the produce is better) but fewer choices. Don't get me started on the gas prices. Sheesh!
Recession is here, folks. They don't want to tell us so they say to be real a recession has to go on for six months. Not in my house, baby!

WTF???
Ok, I know I'm sort of new to this political thing, but are you kidding me? I just bought groceries at the 99 cent store and made $10 worth of gas last for 5 days. George doesn't think we're HEADING for a recession? We're already there!
Oh, and excuse me while I go see what crappy free food is in the kitchen at work for my lunch today as I HAVE NO MONEY.
But wait...there's hope....my tax rebate check is coming. Hmmmm.....I wonder what I'll spend it on? A vacation? A new tv? Let's see, what can I buy that will help to boost the economy? Oh, I know....I THINK I'LL USE IT TO BUY FOOD AND GAS!
